Tiptons concert back on
The Tiptons saxophone quartet got stuck in the storm Saturday night so couldn't make the planned gig at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art. But they will be in Columbia Friday, Feb. 5 at the unlikely location of Dianne's on Devine (a sponsor of the concert.)
The all-female group plays a mix of blues, klezmer, Balkan and Afro-Cuban music. Doors open at 7 and the concert starts at 8 and admission is $10.
Unlike 701 you can get dinner at Dianne's. The restaurant, 2400 Devine St., is also offering a dinner for two for $50 before the show if you get one of the cards the concert organizers have been distributing.

There is a concert at the Center this week which I forgot to include in my week's listings (sorry). It's Wednesday night after the 7:30 talk by artists Gwylene Gallimard and Jean Marie Mauclet, who created the exhibition "Olympia."
Opposite of a Train is a Charleston trio that serves up semi-experimental fare on guitar, accordion, percussion and a few other things.
The center is at 701 Whaley St. 779-4571
